Activities marking the third year anniversary of Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State on Wednesday witnessed some prominent Nigerians mobilising support for the governor.
At a rally held at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado-Ekiti, Fayemi’s administration was commended for its achievements in three years.
Present at the rally were eminent lawyer, Chief Afe Babalola; former governor of Ekiti Stat, Niyi Adebayo; Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole and Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State.
Some of the leaders present, who also included senators and House of Representatives members from the state, poured encomiums on the governor, who they said had transformed Ekiti.
In a speech on the occasion, Fayemi pledged to work harder in the remaining one year, in a manner that every Ekiti resident would feel the impact of the administration.
He appealed to opposition parties as well as disgruntled members of the APC, his party, to “sheath their sword’’ and team up with him to achieve his goals for the state. “There is more to be delivered under my administration but all of these can only be achieved under a peaceful atmosphere.
“As far as I am concerned, I have sworn not to be distracted but remain focused.”
Fayemi was sworn-in on October 16, 2010, following an Appeal Court judgment in Ilorin, which directed former Governor Segun Oni of the PDP to vacate office.
