Dutse – The Babura Local Government in Jigawa says it generates N250,000 weekly.
The council’s Treasurer, Alhaji Adamu Muhammad, disclosed this in Dutse on Sunday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Muhammad spoke through the council`s Information Officer, Alhaji Sanusi Sulaiman.
He said that the amount was being generated from the four major markets in the area – Babura, Kanya Babba, Yarkirya and Manga.
He also disclosed that N10, 000 was being realised daily from a gate established for heavy trucks crossing the area from Katsina and Kano to Niger Republic.
The treasurer commended the revenue collectors for their efforts to source money for the council.
Muhammad, therefore, urged them to explore more revenue sources so as to increase the council’s revenue profile.
This, he said, would enable the local government to execute projects that would improve the quality of lives of the people.
