Bafana Bafana has moved up one spot in the latest FIFA/Coca Cola World rankings, which was released on Thursday.
South Africa replaced the Republic of Ireland in 65th position in the rankings, while also moved up a position to 14th on the continent.
The top of the rankings remained unchanged, with Spain leading the standings ahead of Germany and Portugal. Spain have now topped the table since September 2011.
Brazil were the biggest movers in the top ten, climbing two places to fourth.
African nation Mauritania were the biggest movers overall, climbing 13 spots to 139th place, while Afghanistan were the biggest losers, dropping six spots to 128th position.
In total, 143 of the 207 registered nations remained in the same place as their April ranking.
FIFA will release the next rankings on 5 June, a week before the start of the World Cup in Brazil.
