Mr Jacob Adejorin, Chairman of the association, told newsmen in Lagos that the association had watched with keen interest the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains’ utterances and the disposition of Ambode.
“Against this background, the association has concluded he (Ambode) deserves our votes.
“His wealth of experience, character, integrity and being a new bred politician led credence to this endorsement.
“We have, therefore, decided that all bakeries in the state would be closed down on Saturday for all bakers to go out en masse and vote for our candidate,” he said.
Adejorin, however, urged Ambode to listen to the plight of bakers in the state, should he win.
“We are canvassing support for him because of the trust we have that he would continue what the present administration has started for us.
“Under the present Gov. Babatunde Fashola’s administration, the state government initiated the Bakers Youth Empowerment Programme, but till date, not much has been done on it.
“We are hoping that the APC candidate, if he wins, will make bakers’ welfare a priority and implement this programme to perfection because we are the food basket of the state.
“Bakers are in need of empowerment in the form of sophisticated equipment, funds and training of any kind and level,” he said.
Adejorin, however, said that the association was ready to support any elected candidate. (NAN)
