Ban expresses delight over release of abducted UN contractors in Darfur

York- UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, says he is deeply delighted by the release of two - Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) contractors, were abducted in Zalingei, Central Darfur, Sudan, on Jan. 29.

Ban in a statement on Sunday in York, commended the efforts made by UNAMID.

He expressed his appreciation to the of Sudan and Russia in securing the release of the two contractors.

The UN chief said that he was relieved that the contractors would reunite their families and loved ones after 128 days in captivity.

The Secretary-General underscores the importance of UNAMID’ work for the people of Darfur.
He called on the Government of Sudan to launch a full investigation into the abduction.(NAN)
