Bandits have planted a new set of explosives along the Mai Lamba axis of the Dansadau-Gusau road in Zamfara State, resulting in the deaths of six travelers and injuries to eight others.
Eyewitnesses reported that the explosion occurred on Wednesday when a Volkswagen Golf 3 vehicle triggered the bomb. Abdullahi Dansadau, a local resident, recounted the tragic incident: “It was this morning. One Golf 3 vehicle stepped on the bomb and exploded. We have six dead bodies here now, and eight others sustained injuries. The vehicle was destroyed completely.”
Shocking images from the scene showed lifeless bodies lying by the roadside as passersby watched in despair.
The Commander of 1 Brigade Nigerian Army Gusau, Brigadier General Timothy Opurum, confirmed the incident, stating, “That was what I heard too, but I don’t have details. I have instructed the troops to go there for assessment.”
This marks the second such attack in three days. On Monday, Channels Television reported growing fears among residents as armed bandits in the area increasingly use explosives as part of their tactics.
