IJEBU-ODE – Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, on Tuesday canvassed for unity among members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun to ensure party’s success in 2015 polls. Bankole spoke at the PDP stakeholders’ meeting at Ijebu-Ode, where he was asked to be the party’s flag bearer at the 2015 governorship election in the state. He said disunity was a major factor responsible for the unimpressive performance of the party at the 2011 polls in the state. “Let it be known that I am not for any faction and I am not ready to be the flag bearer of a divided party,” he said. He assured that he would make himself available for genuine reconciliatory moves within the party. Bankole appreciated the stakeholders for considering him worthy of the party’s flag bearer in the 2015 governorship polls. He, however, said that the starting point in the process of ensuring victory at the polls was to reconcile individual and factional differences that existed within the party. (NAN) |
