The socio who filed a case against former Barca president Sandro Rosell, Jordi Cases, has presented paperwork to cite the Catalans’ current chief and his deputy in the complaint. Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu and vice-president Javier Faus will be forced to appear in court over the club’s alleged misappropriation of funds in the deal to sign Neymar from Santos last summer.
The original case was brought by Barca socio Jordi Cases against Sandro Rosell and led to the former president’s resignation in January.
But Cases immediately said he would extend the complaint to include both Bartomeu and Faus and after Rosell gave evidence in court this week, the socio confirmed he had presented the necessary documentation to cite the current chiefs in the ongoing case.
Cases’ lawyer Felipe Izquierdo told TV3: “It should be Rosell, Bartomeu and Faus who assume the possible fines or sanctions resulting from the definitive sentence.” [eap_ad_2] And Cases told AS: “We want to personalise this legal action so that it’s not Barca that are condemned but the people who committed the crimes.”
The case is investigating the €40 million paid by Barca to Neymar’s parents in a complicated deal which the club claim cost €57.1m, even though they have since admitted the total operation came to a total of €86.2m.
As well as the €17.1m received by Santos and the €40m deposited to the company belonging to Neymar’s father, N&N, Barcelona paid €10m as a signing-on fee, €2.7m in commission, €4m in marketing, €2.5m to the player’s foundation and €9.9m in scouting and collaborative deals with Santos.
