BAUCHI – Bauchi State Government on Friday said it would construct a Hajj transit camp at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport, Bauchi.
The state’s Commissioner for Works and Transport, Alhaji Sani Bura said the construction of the camp followed approval by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria to commence transportation of pilgrims for the 2014 hajj from the airport.
Bura, who made this known in Bauchi when he visited the airport, said work on the project would commence later this month.
“The camp will ease transportation and other hardships experienced by pilgrims from the state during hajj operations,” he said.
The commissioner also announced that the state government had approved the construction of a fire fighters college at the airport, to train professional fire fighters from across the country.
He said the project would be executed in collaboration with a development partner. (NAN)
