Bauchi- The All Progressives Congress (APC), Bauchi South, has urged members of the party to forgive one another and unite to reclaim power in the state in 2023.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports the stakeholders from Bauchi South Senatorial Zone comprising seven local government areas of Alkaleri, Bauchi, Kirfi, Toro, Dass, Bogoro, and Tafawa Balewa met on Wednesday to strengthen the party.
Alhaji Abdulmumini Kundak, Bauchi South APC Vice Chairman, said the stakeholders’ meeting was meant to strengthen and seek forgiveness among party members.
He said the APC organised the stakeholders meeting to sensitise the people and improve internal democracy to forge the much-needed unity.
“The idea is to know if there are problems, and if there are no problems, we get suggestions so that we can unite the party,” he said.
APC chieftain, Alhaji Bashir Riminzayyam, said politics was all about tolerance, honesty, and forgiveness to promote internal democracy.
“We should stop pointing baseless accusing fingers at the leaders of the party at the state and national levels.
“The leaders of the party should also support members by way of empowerment, especially those defeated at congresses and election.
“By that, the party would have a sense of belonging, and membership would be strengthened across the state without bickering,” he said.
Another stakeholder and chieftain of the party, Sen. Salisu Matori, called on everyone to come together, and work for the victory of the party in the forthcoming governorship election.
He also urged the stakeholders, and members of the party, to unite for easy victory during the 2023 general election in the state.
Matori said the leadership of the party had the responsibility to reunite members of the party after the rancour caused at different forums and occasions.
Mrs Maryam Alexandra, a stakeholder, also stressed the need for constituting a reconciliation committee to resolve the differences between party members.
“We have to stand on our feet because the real battle for the party to survive and win the election is ahead, so the need to look inward,” she said. (NAN)
