Toro (Bauchi) – Gov. Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi state on Saturday said the state government had embarked on the construction of no fewer than 20 roads in the state.
Abubakar disclosed this in Toro, headquarters of Toro Local Government Area of the state while handing over five vehicles and 45 motorcycles to religious and political groups in the area.
He said that the road projects which are located in the 20 local government areas in the state were at various stages of completion.
Abubakar said that in spite of scarce resources, the government would execute more projects in the state to better the lives of the people.
He stated that the execution of the projects was made possible by the magnanimity of President Muhammadu Buhari, who gave bailout funds to states in the country.
The governor said that the vehicles distributed would assist the beneficiaries in propagating religious, political and economic activities in the area.
Receiving the items, a religious leader in the area, Alhaji Lawal Gumau, commended the governor for the gesture and other ongoing projects in the area.
Gumau also hailed the governor for allocating hajj forms free-of-charge to people in the area as against the alleged N100, 000 bribe being paid to some government officials before the forms would be made available.
He thanked security agents for curbing crimes such as kidnapping, cattle rustling and armed banditry that had be-devilled the area.
