Bauchi – Bauchi State Government on Monday denied any link to the suspension of Sen. Ali Wakili, who represents Bauchi South Senatorial District in the Senate.
Alhaji Abdullahi Idrees, the state Commissioner for Information and Tourism made the denial in Bauchi on Monday while reacting to claims by an aide of the senator that the suspension was sponsored by the government.
“The state government has no hand in the suspension”, Idrees claimed, saying that the matter was purely in the hands of the constituents.
According to him, the state governor was on leave outside the country when the suspension took place.
The commissioner, however, hinted at some disagreements between the governor and some members of the National Assembly.
“These people were elected into offices under the platform of APC and the governor also won under the platform of APC.
“This is Bauchi state, when the governor is doing one, two, three things, we were thinking that they will also make their own contributions.
“They can do the little that they could do even at constituency levels so that together, we promote Bauchi state.
“But this diversionary attempt is not going to help anybody and this is just the first result,” Idrees said.
He added, “I believe other things may follow because you cannot just neglect the electorate and come back to them again; definitely, they will not to listen to you.
“I don’t want to speak on party affairs because the party knows how to operate and speak for itself.
“But this is just one testimony; just to tell you that they have lost touch with the grassroots, with the people of Bauchi state.”
