Bauchi – Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has approved the suspension of another Chairman, Caretaker Committee, Mr Gara’u Adamu of Darazo Local Government Area.
The suspension is contained in a statement signed by Mr Muktar Gidado, Senior Special Assistance (SSA) to the State governor on media, and made available to newsmen in Bauchi on Friday.
Gidado said the suspension, which was with immediate effect was as a result of his persistent absenteeism from office, which he said, contravened the ethics of his oath of office.
“The Governor of Bauchi State, Sen. Bala Mohammed, has approved the suspension of the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Darazo Local Government areas, Gara’u Adamu .
“Government noted that he has not been engaging the Local Government stakeholders in managing the affairs of his council as the act violates the principles of good representation, equity and fairness.
“In addition, government noted with concerns the persistence in absenteeism from office by the suspended Caretaker Chairman which contravened the ethics of his oath of office thereby affecting the much needed development in the Local Government.
“For these reasons, he has been directed to handover the mantle of the administration of his Local Government Council to his Deputy along with all government’s property in his possession,” Gidado said.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the suspension came barely 17 hours after the governor suspended the chairman caretaker committee of Ningi LGA of the state, Mr Nura Maishar’a.
Maishar’a was relieved of his position over alleged frequent absence from meetings of Local Government Chairmen and non-engagement of local government stakeholders in managing the local government affairs. (NAN)
