Bauchi -The Bauchi Police Command on Thursday said it had noted with concern, the increasing cases of people ‘drowning’ in rivers and shallow waters across the state.

In a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Hassan mohammed, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bauchi, it noted that no fewer than five cases were recorded of recent in different parts of the state, claiming seven lives
“In view of this development, members of the public, especially those unable to swim, are advised to stay away from river bank/streams or open drainages that are usually flooded with water during this period of rainy season.
“Parents are equally urged to monitor and warn their children as well, from going to the river/streams to swim , because, apart from risking their lives, they will also be exposed to water borne diseases,” it advised.
The command assured that it was committed to providing safe and secured environment in the State and called for the co-operation of the people. (NAN)
