Bauchi police command warns over plans to announce guber election result ahead of INEC

BAUCHI – Bauchi State Police Command said on Saturday that some were to announce the results of the governorship election in the state before the official declaration of the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

 

The command’s Public Relation Office, DSP Haruna Mohammed, said in a on Saturday that any such act, would be viewed seriously and culprits, punished.

“It has come to the knowledge of Bauchi State Police Command that some desperate politicians are planning to announce the results of election before the official announcement by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in order to incite disturbance of public peace in the state.
“To this end, members of the public are urged to disregard any announcement emanating from any quarter other than the Independent National Electoral Commission, and be law- abiding.
“The command warns that it will decisively with any individual or group of individuals who are bent on causing disturbance of public peace in the state.

“Finally, the public are advised to be on the lookout and report any suspicious person to the nearest , or call the police distress numbers for prompt ,” said the command. (NAN)
