BAUCHI – Bauchi State Police Command said on Saturday that some politicians were planning to announce the results of the governorship election in the state before the official declaration of the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The command’s Public Relation Office, DSP Haruna Mohammed, said in a statement on Saturday that any such act, would be viewed seriously and culprits, punished.

“It has come to the knowledge of Bauchi State Police Command that some desperate politicians are planning to announce the results of election before the official announcement by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in order to incite disturbance of public peace in the state.
“To this end, members of the public are urged to disregard any announcement emanating from any quarter other than the Independent National Electoral Commission, and be law- abiding.
“The command further warns that it will deal decisively with any individual or group of individuals who are bent on causing disturbance of public peace in the state.
“Finally, the general public are advised to be on the lookout and report any suspicious person to the nearest police station, or call the police distress numbers for prompt response,” said the command. (NAN)
