BAUCHI – The Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB ) on Friday inaugurated a 12-man Committee on Improving Quality of Teaching and Learning in the state’s primary and junior secondary schools.
The Board Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Dabo, said in Bauchi that the committee would monitor and supervise teaching and learning process in all basic schools in the state. Dabo said the step became necessary to safeguard the education system from collapse, sequel to the poor results recorded by candidates in the last Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations (SSCE) in the state.
“This committee will help us with all the information we need to make things right, particularly teachers attitude to their job and student’s attitude to their studies.
“Also, school enrolment will receive a boost and the committee will ensure that only qualified students transit from junior secondary school to senior secondary school.
“I am confident that with this committee in place, the quality of teaching and learning will be improved in our schools,’’ Dabo said.
He urged members of the committee to do their best and contribute their quota to improving the education sector.
Members of the committee were drawn from the School Base Management Committees (SBMCs), including staff and management of SUBEB. (NAN)
