•Bayelsa LG chairmen pose for group photograph after receiving certificates of return on Monday

YENAGOA (Sundiata Post) – Chairmen and vice chairmen who were elected in the April 6 local government elections in Bayelsa State have received their certificates of return from the Bayelsa State Independent Electoral Commission (BYSIEC).
The event which took place on Monday at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre in Yenagoa saw BYSIEC chairman, Dr. Peter Singabele, congratulating the elected officials on their victory.
Singabele urged them to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people at the grassroots in order for democracy to continue to thrive in the state.
The April 6 local government elections was the first under the governor, Senator Douye Diri.
Responding on behalf of other elected chairmen and vice chairmen, the Chairman of Yenagoa Local Government Council, Mr. Bulodisiye Ndiwari, thanked Governor Diri and his deputy Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, and other stakeholders for their support.
Ndiwari pledged to justify the confidence reposed in them by improving the quality of lives of the people in the various local government council areas.
Elected chairmen who were presented with certificates of return at the ceremony were Lucky Febo for Brass Local Government Area, Golden Jeremiah for Ogbia, Chief David Alagoa for Nembe and Target Segibo for Southern Ijaw.
Others were Lelei Tariye Isaac for Kolokuma/Opokuma, Onniye Isaac for Ekeremor, and Mrs. Alice Allen-Tangi, the only elected woman, for Sagbama.
The elected councillors for all the 105 wards across the eight local government areas would receive their certificates of return at their various councils on Tuesday.
