Yenagoa – The Bayelsa Police Command says it has put measures in place to checkmate the activities of criminals and miscreants during the Christmas and New year celebrations in the state.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Asinim Butswat, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the command had intensified surveillance, foot, vehicular and maritime patrols within the state capital and its environs.
He warned that the ban on use of fireworks remained in force, adding that the Police was poised to enforce the ban.
“The ban on sales and use of fireworks; knockouts, and other explosives is still in force.

“Parents and guardians are advised to warn their wards against the use of fireworks as the Command will not spare any person caught violating this order”, Butswat said.
He enjoined members of the public to be at alert, co-operate with the Police and to volunteer useful information about movement of suspicious persons within their areas.
Butswat said that Police was ready to ensure security of lives and property during the festive period. (NAN)
