YENAGOA (Sundiata Post) – The Bayelsa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said thugs suspected to be working for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) early Saturday morning attacked the APC agent in Nembe-Ogbolomabiri, Mr. Doumo Ogbomani and other party stalwarts at the Local Government INEC office during the distribution of materials for the re-run election in the community.
They were attacked by machete-wielding thugs right in the presence of soldiers and other PDP stalwarts dressed in black with the inscription “AFRICAN SECURITY SERVICE” on their shirts.
A statement by the Director of Media and Publicity of the Sylva-Igiri Campaign Organisation, Chief Nathan Egba, said Ogbomani and four other APC supporters have been seriously wounded in the attack.
However in Ekeremor town in Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa state and home town of the Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, election eventually held under a very peaceful atmosphere.

The Minister himself was accredited and cast his vote at his Ward 8 polling unit 2 peacefully at about 1pm.
According to Egba, reports reaching the party from Southern Ijaw Local Government Area indicated that the turn-out was impressive as voters in the various wards of the LGA went out to exercise their franchise peacefully.
Egba, said the reports from the field indicated that the process was generally peaceful.
In Famgbe community, Yenagoa Local Government Area, the security agents arrested 12 fake INEC staff allegedly imported to the area by the PDP to undermine the election.
Among the 12 fake INEC officials were some people who later identified as members of the PDP Restoration Media team, he said.
Also, apprehended at the same Famgbe are two other persons including a native of Kogi State posing as PDP agents.
The Sylva-Igiri Campaign Organisation however, commended the security agents for their arrest but appealed to them to ensure they are prosecuted.
