Bayero University Kano cancels 2019-2020 academic session

Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Bayero University Kano (BUK) January 4, approved cancelation 2019-2020 sessions for all Undergraduate and Postgraduate programs institution. 

announcement conveyed a memo signed by university registrar Fatima Binta-, and released barely weeks after Academic Staff Union Universities (ASUU) suspended its nine-month old strike across public universities the country.

Daily Trust reported that before ASUU embarked a strike March 2020, BUK had already completed its mid-semester break for first semester of 2019/2020 academic session for undergraduates, while postgraduate students had just resumed for session.

The school has announced that the new academic session for undergraduates will begin January 18, 2021 (first semester), while the second semester will begin May 3, 2021. 

For the Postgraduates, the slated January 18 as first semester, while the second semester will begin on June 1.

Asides renaming the 2019/2020 session to 2020/2021, the also granted amnesty to Postgraduate students who did not register within the time frame. They are to do so before the new session begins.
