The #BringBackOurGirls (BBOG) group on Thursday mourned the killing of 47 boys from the All- Boys Government Technical Secondary School in Potiskum, Yobe State by a suicide bomber on Monday.

The group which appeared for its sit-out on Thursday in black t-shirts with inscription, #Nigeria Mourn #Potiskum Boys stated that it was saddened that the security challenges in the country had gotten to a stage where the Nigerian children are no more safe at their schools and prayed God to comfort the family of the boys who had died in search of knowledge.

The group also condemed the reported award given to governors, traditional rulers, individuals and organisations by Arewa Foundation For Peace, Conflict Resolution and Developemt for promoting peace and development in Nigeria and wondered if the Foundation was blind to the many killings in the North East’ especially the death of the Potiskum boys.

The group with placards reading, ‘The Blood of the Potiskum Boy’s are on our hand’s, ‘Northern Leaders fear God,’ We love our Children, stop the killings’, ‘Shame to Northern Leaders’, ‘Award for failing your children’ and ‘You have let down Sir Ahmadu Bello’, also wondered why the group was giving awards to organisations and individuals when the North East was ripe with the attack of the insurgents with no semblance of peace at the area.

Responding to the questions of the group in a telephone conversation, the National Cordinator of the Arewa Foundation, Musa Gado, stated that they had decided to go on with the event because they had planned the award before the unfortunate incidence of the killing of the Potiskum boys.

He added that the Foundation was planning on-doing something, concerning the insecurity situation in the country, including those affected by the attacks on Monday, a suspected Boko Haram suicide bomber disguised in school uniform killed 47 students in Potiskum and injuring several others.

The explosion ripped through the school, just as students gathered for morning assembly before classes began, causing panic and chaos.
