COTONOU – The Joint Cooperation Commission between Benin and Cote d’Ivoire opened its third meeting in Cotonou, after a 15-years break, official reported on Friday.Eusèbe Agbangla, who represented Benin’s Foreign Affairs Minister, said the reactivation of the Commission was a proof of the common determination by both countries to take their relations to a new level.
“Benin and Cote d’Ivoire are two friendly countries that enjoyed good relations before and after their accession to international sovereignty.
“Their cooperation is marked by fraternity, solidarity and exchanges in different field,’’ he said.
During the two-day meeting, the two delegations would seek ways to strengthen their bilateral cooperation, especially in such areas as mining, energy, road and railway infrastructure, tourism, ICT and security.
They would also explore the possibility of establishing a partnership between their Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
However at the end of the meeting, cooperation pacts in the listed sectors were expected to be signed to consolidate the bilateral relations between the two countries. (PANA/NAN)
