Makurdi – The Speaker, Benue House of Assembly, Mr Terkimbi Ikyange, on Wednesday called on youths to take to small scale enterprises for self employment.

Ikyange told newsmen in Makurdi that youths needed to be engaged in meaningful ventures in order to improve their lots rather than beg around politicians.

He said small scale enterprises required little resources for take-off, and that if they were committed in all their dealings, they would grow financially.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]

The speaker urged the youth to desist from begging politicians for financial assistance, stressing that the act was capable of making them lazy and indolent, thereby impoverishing them perpetually.

He said financial assistance from politicians was not regular, hence the need for them to create avenues to fend for themselves and also render assistance to others.

He said that the present APC administration in the state was interested in assisting youths with genuine ideas to be self reliant and advised them to take advantage of the opportunity to be employers rather than employees.

Ikyange solicited for prayers from the people to enable him succeed in his task of piloting the affairs of the state legislature. (NAN)
