WARRI – A Warri-based human rights organisation, the Centre for the Vulnerable and the Underprivileged (CENTREP), has commended the Federal Government for the ceasefire deal with the Islamic sect, ”Boko Haram.”
CENTREP, in a press statement signed by its Executive Director, Mr Oghenejabor Ikimi and made available to newsmen on Sunday in Warri, urged the presidency to make available details of the truce to Nigerians.
The statement observed that the development was capable of opening a window of opportunities for the release of the over 200 abducted Chibok school girls and others in captivity of the sect.
It added that the development would help to restore peace and tranquility which had eluded the country for sometime.
”We call on the presidency to make available details of the above truce to Nigerians, and in particular to the parents and relatives of the abducted Chibok school girls, and others currently in custody of the sect.
”It will go a long way to cushioning the havoc and trauma the sect has inflicted on the collective psyche of our nation.
”It will also signal the beginning of a national healing process in the polity,” the statement said. (NAN)
