Abuja (Sundiata Post) –  Former Minister of Aviation and Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has commended former governor of Kaduna  State, Col Abubakar Umar for standing up to be counted by his stand on the way the IPOB leader, Mazi  Nnamdi Kanu is being treated by the Federal Government.

Sundiata Post recalls that the federal government has approached the court seeking the nullification of the bail granted Nnamdi Kanu for allegedly violating the bail conditions.

However, Rtd Col Umar has described the move by the federal government to re-arrest Nnamdi Kanu as a dangerous and politically unwise effort that could backfire.

He called on Buhari administration to stop seeing Mr. Kanu as a common criminal.

According to Umar,” the Independent People of Biafra Leader, Nnamdi Kanu is a bitter young man fighting for a fairer deal for his Igbo kinsmen. His seeming militant approach is the result of the strong-arm tactics with which the federal government deals with him.”

Fani-Kayode who said he wholeheartedly agreed with the former governor of Kaduna State, added that if more people had seen things the way Col Umar did, nobody would be questioning the unity of Nigeria. The former minister described Umar is a good man.

The former minister who took to twitter said, “I just read Col. Abubakar Umar’s comments about Nnamdi Kanu and I wholeheartedly concur. He warned against Kanu’s rearrest and said that he was not a common criminal. If only more people saw things the way Umar did, nobody would question the unity of Nigeria. He is a good man.
