ABUJA (Sundiata Post) – A visibly angry President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday said the current agitation for Biafra by some groups in the South East posed no challenge to him.
Speaking in answer to a question at his maiden presidential media speech, the president said he had handled stronger groups like Boko Haram and militants, implying that it would not be difficult crushing the agitation for Biafra by some aggrieved elements in the South East.
He accused Nnamdi Kanu, the Coordinator of Radio Biafra and leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) of treason. “The one you are calling Kanu, do you know he has two passports, one Nigeria and British but he entered the country without any passport? Do you know he imported sophisticated radio equipment into the country? This is treasonable felony and I expect the judges to do what is necessary,” he said.
The president was reacting to a question concerning the government’s disregard for court order granting Kanu bail.

Buhari denied the accusation that his government has marginalised the Igbos. He mentioned the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele; Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu; Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu; Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige and the Minister of State for Education, Anthony Onwuka as all Igbos in his government. “When they say they are marginalised, who is marginalising them?” the president asked.
