Abuja (Sundiata Post) – The Plateau State House of Assembly has passed a bill that will enable the State to regulate electricity aimed at ensuring that consumers get value for the money paid as electricity bill. https://sundiatapost.com/tribunal-affirms-pdp-plateau-langtang-north-north-state-constituency-election/
The new law called Electricity Market 2023 was facilitated by Hon. Joseph Nannim Langyi a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), representing Langtang North-north State Constituency.
Langyi who is also the Deputy Chief Whip and House Committee Chairman on Water Resources and Energy of the Plateau Assembly said the bill was an act propagated by the previous administration of former president Muhammadu Buhari.
He said the bill will establish a Commercial and Technical Regulatory framework for Plateau State electricity consumers.
According to him: “It will ensure reliable and universal access to electricity for all residents of Plateau State and to establish Plateau State electrification fund for the delivery of reliable electricity supply to unserved and underserved areas of the State. https://sundiatapost.com/tribunal-affirms-pdp-plateau-langtang-north-north-state-constituency-election/
“The bill will boost the economy and invariably propel economic growth and improve small and medium scale business activities within communities in the State
“The Electricity Bill, 2023, after a clause-by-clause consideration of the committee’s report was passed into law”, he said.
Responding, the Speaker of the Plateau State House Assembly, Hon. Gabriel Dewan noted that “because of the importance and sensitivity of the bill, the House would like to see to it that the new law is fully processed and sent to the executive arm of government for consideration and assent
