Ilorin – A Non-governmental Organisation, Be Inspired Nigeria (BIN), has urged women to acquire entrepreneurial skills for effective home management and economic empowerment.
Mrs Khadijat Saliu, BIN’s Administrator for Kwara, made the call on Monday while speaking at the organisation’s end of year party.
She said that women’s push for political relevance would become realistic if they acquired more leadership skills.
Saliu said the time had come for women to become more politically proactive, adding, “ we need to rise up and work, get something doing and stop sitting idle.”
She said that although some men do not want their wives to work, women could still be productive in some ways.
The PIN administrator urged women to take advantage of the internet to learn new innovations in productive home management and entrepreneurship.
“ Not all training requires physical presence anymore, there are online classes women can take to become entrepreneurs even from the comfort of their homes.
“As women, we need to know that the success of the home, especially the children, depends largely on our managerial skills.
“ We must make our children to understand that money cannot come when we sit sedentarily,” she said.
Saliu further advised women to evolve ways of ensuring healthy lifestyle while managing the challenges of their domestic and official duties.
“Always find the time to rest when it is needed, it is only a healthy mother and wife that can raise a healthy family,” she said.
