Awka – The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, has congratulated Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra on his 60th birthday.
Ezeokafor, who gave his congratulatory message at St. Patrick Catholic Cathedral, Awka, on Saturday, thanked God for the good works He is using the governor to do in the state.
He said that Obiano had done well, especially in the area of security.
He urged Nigerians to be patriotic and accord respect to legitimately constituted authorities.
Ezeokafor said that any democratic government deserved the support of the citizens for meaningful economic progress.

‘Every legitimate government deserves the respect of the people; we must support our governments but that does not mean we cannot criticise them constructively,’ he said.
He described Obiano as a fortunate man who had done well for himself as an individual and a governor with genuine concern for the wellbeing of the state.
The bishop advised the citizens to continue to pay their legitimate taxes to the state as part of their civic duties for the state to implement its projects and programmes.
He urged the state civil servants to also justify their monthly salaries by rendering corresponding services.
He also urged the citizens to always treat public property as theirs by protecting them, saying that it was wrong of them to conclude that government business was nobody’s business. (NAN)
