Ghana will make its maiden appearance at the 2014 edition of the Copa Lagos beach soccer tournament with 10 players.
The three-year-old tournament will see the Black Sharks who rank 8th in Africa, engage the Nigeria Super Sand Eagles, Switzerland and Cote d’ivorie beach soccer teams in a round-robin format at the Eko Atlantic City in Victoria Island from December 12-14.
Maxwell Kpeglo is team Ghana’s technical coordinator and will be assisted by Theophilus Nii Armah whilst Johnny Heeman Mawusi and Daniel Kotey Neequaye handle the team for a minimum of three games at the Lagos competition.
The Ghana Beach Soccer Association (GBSA) is believed to have contacted the Football Association’s technical director Francis Oti Akenteng to bring to bear his knowledge and experience on the entire technical team during the international beach soccer festival.
The Black Sharks will face hosts Nigeria on the opening day while Ivory Coast take on European Champions Switzerland. Ghana will then take on the Europeans on December 13 and Ivory Coast in their final game.
