ABUJA – The FCT Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Board (FCTMPWB), On Friday, said it had started refunding money meant for feeding and transportation of pilgrims who performed Hajj in 2012 and 2013 through its board.
Notice of the refund is contained in a statement signed by the Director of Media of the board, Alhaji Muhammed Lawal, in Abuja.
The statement quoted Lawal as explaining that the refund was because of poor feeding and transportation services given to pilgrims in the holy land.
According to him, a total of 3,152 pilgrims who participated in the 2012 Hajj are to receive N1,785 each for their feeding and transportation respectively.
He said a total of 3,078 pilgrims who performed the 2013 Hajj were to receive N3,000 each as refund for feeding as well as transport fares during the exercise.
He, therefore, advised the affected pilgrims to forward their applications for the refund and to include their statement of bank details to the director of the board, as no cash payment would be entertained without that.
Pilgrims were also expected to attach evidence of performing the Hajj in the year mentioned, he stated.
He noted that other requirements include receipt of payment of Hajj fee, photocopy of visa page in their various passports and pilgrims’ identity cards.
The application for the refund could be submitted to any official of the board in the six area councils of the FCT or at the board’s Head Office, he said.
He also advised pilgrims who had no bank accounts to forward a letter authorising the board to pay the money into third party account which the detail shall be provided by the beneficiary.
He said the board had already received N14,878,267.45 from NAHCON for the refund. (NAN)
