The bodies of two pregnant women and two men killed by flood have been recovered after four days in Omeligboma, Oko community, Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State .
The four bodies were recovered on Thursday by local divers, who had been searching for the victims since the incident occurred.
The victims are believed to be relocating from the community due to the threatening flood before they drowned at Omeligboma, Oko community in the state capital.
The victims, whose identities could not be ascertained as of the time of filing this report, were said to be on board a boat to escape the rising flood when the tragedy struck.
The boat conveying the residents suddenly capsized, leaving the helmsman as the only survivor as the accident occurred in the middle of the river.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the recovery of the bodies.
“We don’t know the names of the victims for now, but the corpses were already decomposing and the families said they wanted to bury them and the police granted their request,” she said.
