Port Harcourt – Femi Adesoye, a Nigerian Body Building athlete, on Friday appealed to corporate bodies and organisations to sponsor the game due to its potential.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Adesoye won a bronze medal at the recently concluded Arnold Classic Africa Body Building Championship in South Africa.
He told NAN in Port Harcourt that Nigeria was blessed with potential winners in the game.
He said though competing in the African Championship was tough, it served as an eye-opener for Nigerians athletes.
“ I competed in a tough field of 16 athletes from different countries and finished third in the Super heavyweight category of the Body Building event,” he said.
Adesoye also said that with sponsorship, he would win more laurels for the country.
“This is just the beginning of a great journey for me. I am excited and very happy with my performance; and emerging as the first Nigerian medallist at an Arnold Classic is just awesome.
“However, I promise to even do better at the 14th African Body Building and Fitness Championship, billed for Port Harcourt in October, and 2016 World championship, slated for Spain in November,” he said.
Adesoye solicited for support from well-meaning Nigerians and corporate bodies, in his bid to bring more honours for the country.
“I am calling on Nigerians, governments at every level and corporate bodies, to support my training, preparation, registration and participation at these events. They require financial support.”
He said the bronze won in South Africa was his first international outing and pledged to be a good ambassador of the country. (NAN)
