LAGOS – A 34-year-old bodyguard, Joseph Agada, on Monday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos over alleged break-in and theft of properties valued at N175,000.
The accused, who resides at No.21A, Adekunle Fajuyi St., GRA, Ikeja in Lagos State, is facing a two-count charge of stealing and breach of pubic peace.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges .
The prosecutor, ASP Eranus Nnamonu, told the court that the offences were committed on Nov. 9 at the above named address where the defendant and complainant, one Miss Oby Okwuchukwu, resided.
He said the defendant broke into the room of Okwuchukwu while she was out of town on a trip.
“Agada broke the locks to Okwuchukwu’s room and stole her gas cylinder, DSTV machine, jewellery, clothing, shoes and N50, 000 cash, all valued at N175,000.
“The defendant, thereafter, threw out the complainant’s remaining belongings and rented out the apartment to someone else,” Nnamonu said.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 166 and 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
In her ruling, the Magistrate, Miss A.R Onilogbo, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the matter to Dec. 23 for mention. (NAN)
