ABUJA (SundiataPost) – President Goodluck Jonathan and the leadership of the Senate, led by the Senate President, David Mark, met behind closed-doors in the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Tuesday.
Others in the meeting included the Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu; Senate Leader, Victor
Ndoma-Egba; Deputy Leader, Abdul Ningi; and the Minority Leader, George Akume, among others.
None of them spoke with newsmen after the meeting.
The meeting came on the hills of some senators kicking against the president’s decision to extend the
emergency rule declared in three North Eastern states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states over the activities of the Boko Haram sect.
The decision was taken during the National Defence Council meeting on Monday where it was resolved that the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Muhammed Adoke would communicate to the National Assembly, the plan to extend the emergency rule in the three states.
