ABUJA (Sundiata Post) – The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence (MoD), Amb. Danjuma Sheni has assured that the welfare of the Nigerian military and especially the troops involved in the Operation Lafiya Dole against Boko Haram in the North East, remained paramount and that all necessary due process would be followed to achieve this.
Sheni gave this assurance on Wednesday during a courtesy visit to the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Gabriel Olonisakin, at the Defence Headquarters (DHQ), Abuja.
He said he was in the DHQ to boost the morale of the military personnel and to get acquitted with the Chief of Defence Staff and the Principal Staff Officers.
He explained that Defence is a very important ministry as far as national security is concerned and the troops’ sacrifice in the ongoing war against insurgency remains praise-worthy.
He then pledged an unflinching support to DHQ and its operations, especially the ongoing counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations in the North East.
Responding, Olonisakin expressed appreciation for the visit, and lauded the ministry on its efforts to motivate the troops through welfare package.
