Beneshiek – The Borno Government announced on Sunday that it had put in place all necessary machinery to commence feeding of primary school pupils in the state as part of its school enrollment drive.
Gov. Kashim Shettima stated this while addressing members of the Minok Community in Kaga Local Government Area of the state.
Shettima, who was at the village to assess the ongoing reconstruction of infrastructure damaged by the Boko Haram insurgency, expressed satisfaction with the level of work done.
“I want to assure you that government will reconstruct the two clinics within the community.
“The police station and of course all damaged schools will be put back to shape,” he said.
“ Our only request from the people is for them to send their children and wards to school.
“We are going to commence the school feeding programme here in Minok and other communities in the state, but we need people to enroll their children in school,” he said.
Shettima said that it was only by sending children to school that the parents could guarantee their future.
“It is only by sending children to school that you can ensure the future of the society.
“If we fail to educate our children, these kids will be the monsters that will consume us in the next 20 years to come,” he said.
He said said government would also provide free uniforms and other educational materials to pupils in public schools.
“It is absolutely essential that you enroll your kids in school.
“We are going to provide them with free kits such as books, free uniforms and a meal per day in a public schools in the state,” he said.(NAN)
