Maiduguri- The Borno Government on Sunday threatened to revoke road projects which contractors performed badly.
The Commissioner for Works, Alhaji Usman Zannah, made the threat while inspecting some roads and drainage projects in Maiduguri.
Zannah expressed sadness that some contractors had abandoned their project sites after receiving huge amounts of money from the government.
“Some contractors handling roads and drainage projects decided to abandon the sites, after collecting mobilisation funds from government while others performed at a very slow pace.

“This attitude must stop henceforth, enough is enough,” he said.
Zannah, however, expressed satisfaction with the level of work at the Bulumkutun-Tsallake and Maduganari township roads being undertaken by the EEC and CGC construction companies.
He also lauded the contractors handling the Mairi road and drainage network, as well as those handling similar projects in London-Ciki, Dikwa Low-Cost among others.
Zannah promised to settle all their outstanding payments soon to further motivate them for higher productivity.
He also inspected the ongoing Lagos street road project but expressed disappointment with the level of work done by the contractor, HIJIAG Nigeria Ltd.
Zannah advised the contractor to buckle up or face sanctions even as he summoned him to appear in his office on Monday or risk termination of the contract. (NAN)
