Federal Secretariat, the complex housing major government offices around Eagle Square, Abuja, Nigeria’s seat of power, is on fire.
We gathered that the fire started from the section of the complex occupied by the Federal Ministry of Education and fire fighters are battling to save the inferno from spreading to adjourning buildings.
The Ministry of Police Affairs is also affected by the inferno.
The fire service response is said to be slow by observers and workers have expressed fear that the fire might spread to other MDAs.

The fire, witnesses said, began at the sixth floor of the building and is believed to have affected the seventh and eight floors.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, but thick smokes has engulfed the building and surrounding ones.
Workers in the building were seen scampering for safety while a good number of staff and visitors are trapped in the complex.
