ABUJA – The COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria took a different turn on Thursday as Kano State overtook Lagos in the number of new infections.
According to the daily update by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) released late on Thursday, there were 204 new cases of the pandemic out of which Kano State reported 80 new infections.
Lagos, which has been the epicentre of the disease since the index case in February, reported 45 new cases. This is the first time any other state will report a higher number of new cases than Lagos.
With the new infections, Nigeria’s total COVID-19 cases now stands at 1,932.
