JOS (Sundiata Post) – Less than 24 hours after operatives of the ‘Operation Safe Haven,’ also known as the Special Task Force on security in Jos rescued 145 children, men of the Plateau State police command on Tuesday arrested a woman with another 15 children.
Sundiata Post gathered that the children made up of a girl aged 13 and 14 boys were rescued at the Gada Biu Motor Park while they were boarding a bus to Anambra State with their suspected abductor identified as Rifkatu Bello, aged 27.
She was said to have abducted the children from Bauchi State on their way to Anambra State. The girl is said to be with a two-year old baby.
Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Tyopev Terna, who confirmed the incident to Sundiata Post, said that the children and their abductor have been taken to the state Criminal Investigation Department.
Indeed the recent incident has sent jitters down the spine of Plateau State residents. On Monday, the police rescued another 145 children who were being transported in two two trucks.
They were said to have been transported from from Bauchi, Gombe and Jigawa states.
Tyopev, the spokesman for the state police command, said the children, who are all boys, are between four to eight years old. He said the kids were to be shared to Plateau, Kaduna and Nasarawa states.
Tyopev said the police are in touch with the Plateau chapter of Jama’atul Nasril Islam and other critical stakeholders, to establish contact with the two state governments for the return of the children to their parents.
