ABUJA (Sundiata Post) – The presidential candidate of APC, General Muhammadu Buhari, has said the death of pioneer Governor of Bauchi State when it was created in 1976, Brigadier Mohammed Bello Kaliel, has robbed Nigeria of one of its finest and best military officers the country has ever produced.
In a condolence letter to the Government of Kebbi State on the death of Brigadier Kaliel, Buhari said he knew the deceased very closely and that he came across as a loyal, patriotic and dedicated officer.
He said the late Kaliel, who was Commander of the Brigade of Guards to former President Shehu Shagari, was a remarkably disciplined officer, who had demonstrated all the virtues of an officer and a gentleman.
Buhari said he was proud to be associated with a disciplined military officer like the late Brigadier Bello Kaliel, whose contributions to Nigeria’s development he said, could not be forgotten.
The APC presidential candidate noted that Brigadier Kaliel’s gentle nature, patience and calm disposition was remarkable enough to disarm even the most hardened critic.
