Manila A British man, who was one of the ten most wanted fraudsters in Britain, has been arrested by immigration agents in the Philippines, the Bureau of Immigration said on Monday.
Bureau of Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said in a statement in Manila.
Morente said Adam James Stagg, 30, was arrested at his home in Mabalacat City in Pampanga province, north of Manila.
“Stagg, who was arrested at the request of the British embassy, was listed seventh on Britain’s 10 most wanted list of fraudsters,’’ Morente said.
Report says the man from Bristol is wanted by the Avon and Somerset police for allegedly duping victims into paying for designer watches which were never delivered.
Stagg allegedly set up companies in the Philippines which sold watches online to around 140 customers in Britain.
“Like all other foreign fugitives that we have arrested, this Briton will be expelled and sent back to his country to stand trial for his crimes,’’ Morente said.
