ABUJA (Sundiata Post) – Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, on Monday begged to be left out of the Twitter war between Senator Ben Bruce and the Minister of Transport, Hon. Chibuike Amechi, saying that he does not have a Twitter handle.
Ekweremadu, who also declared that his other social media accounts have been dismantled several years ago, called on members of the public to discountenance such fictitious social media handles and their comments.
“The attention of the Office of the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has been drawn to a supposed tweet by him in the Twitter exchanges between Senator Ben Bruce and the Minister of Transport, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amechi, as reported by a national daily.
“The Office wishes to reiterate to members of the public that the said Twitter handle does not belong to the person or Office of the Deputy President of the Senate. For the umpteenth time, Ekweremadu does not own a Twitter handle and his other social media accounts were dismantled several years ago as explained in previous statements by the Office.
“Such fake Twitter and other social media handles were duly reported to the respective platforms and they were taken down.

“While the Deputy President of the Senate does not shirk from airing his views on issues as he deems fit, he will not accept to be attributed comments he never made. Therefore, the Office, once again, calls on members of the public to discountenance such fictitious social media handles and comments, as they have absolutely nothing to do with his person or Office.
Similarly, the Office, once again, wishes to appeal to media houses, to always crosscheck with it, before going ahead to attribute comments on social media platforms to either the person of Senator Ike Ekweremadu or the Office of the Deputy President of the Senate,” he said in a statement issued by his Special Adviser (Media), Mr. Uche Anichukwu.
