Abuja (Sundiata Post) — The All Progressives Congress (APC), on Friday afternoon, sang a discordant tune from President Muhammadu Buhari’s declaration of his present health, following his arrival from London on the early hours of Friday.

After 51 days of absence from office, while he was on medical vacation, Buhari returned around 4 a.m. from the United Kingdom.

He hinted on a possible return for more medical checkups.

“I am feeling much better now; there may, however, be need to have further followups within some weeks,” Buhari said.

But his party suggested that the President does not need further rest and checkups.

“President Buhari is now well rested,” APC said in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, on Friday.

While thanking Buhari for following due process, and properly handing over to the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, APC commended Osinbajo for his loyalty and commitment.

“The All Progressives Congress (APC) heartily welcomes our dear President, His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari back to the country after his medical vacation in the United Kingdom.

“The Party believes that President Buhari is now well rested and has returned with new vigour and optimism to fix the challenges facing our people and fulfil the promises our Party made to Nigerians during the 2015 elections.

“We thank the President for following due process and properly handing over to his deputy, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and thereby saving the country the needless controversies and crises that we experienced in the past.

“The Party also commend the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo for competently holding fort on behalf of Mr. President and for his loyalty and commitment to the Change Agenda of our Party.

“We thank Nigerians and all men and women of goodwill who have been praying for the health and safe return of the President and note that the government is fully committed to the Party’s manifesto of Change, couched on true transformation in every area of national life,” it said.

Meanwhile, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has urged Nigerians to stop nursing bitterness against one another because of political differences, but unite behind their common interests, and speak with one voice.

Atiku gave the charge in a message to welcome Buhari home from London.

In a statement released by his media office in Abuja on Friday, Atiku expresses joy and relief at the return of Buhari from the United Kingdom.

“Buhari’s safe return is a happy moment not only as fellow party member, but also as a Nigerian that has tremendous goodwill and best wishes for the President.

“The return of the President at this time would put to an end to the uncertainty and the conspiracy theories that attended his 50 days absence.

“Atiku Abubakar explained that, with the President’s return, Nigerians should unite behind their common interests and speak with one voice instead of nursing bitterness against one another because of political differences.

“The former Vice President prays to God to bless the President with many more years of good health and energy to serve his country successfully,” the statement read.
