President Muhammadu Buhari may finally return to the country this weekend, after spending almost 90 days in London receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment.
Unconfirmed sources at the Aso Rock said everything is now ready for his return. However, the Presidency is yet to issue a statement to this effect as is tradition going by the process followed when the President returned from his last medical vacation in January.
Buhari left the shores of the country on 7th May after receiving the 82 freed Chibok school girls at his residence in Aso Rock. Recently, two delegations, a first consisting of governors and ministers, and a second group of all governors under the aegis of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) visited the President in London at close intervals.
Since their return, there have been speculations about the exact date of the President’s return even as staff in the Presidency say they have been put on stand by for his return. If the information of his return is anything to go by, the Presidency may release a statement later in the day informing announcing his return.
The President’s wife, Aisha Buhari returned to the country on Thursday after spending one month in London with him. She left the country on July2 for her second visit to London since her husband left the shores of the country for a second medical vacation in the year. There were speculations that she had not been allowed access to her husband the
first time.
Her return to the country raised expectations of the President’s return as Aso Rock officials say they have been put on standby. The President’s grandchildren who went with him to London were also said to have returned to the country early in the week fuelling speculations that the President and his wife will return later in the week.DAILYPOST
