Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Resume or Resign protesters operating with the hash tag #OurMumuDonDo, asking for President Muhammadu Buhari to resume duties or resign after more than 90 days was on Tuesday tear-gassed and dispersed by the Police.
The protesters had gathered at the Unity Fountain in Abuja on Day 2 of the protest in continuation with the protest.
One of the leaders of the protest, Charles Oputa (popularly called Charlie Boy) and a journalist reporting for Silverbird Television were injured during a confrontation with the police.
The protesters operating under the hash tag #OurMumuDonDo are calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to return from his medical trip in London and resume his duties or to resign if he cannot discharge his duties as so elected.
Sundiata Post recalls that President Muhammadu Buhari left the country on the 7th of May to London to treat an undisclosed ailment.
In a reaction to the protest embarked upon by the group yesterday, the presidency hinted that one of the benefits in a democracy is right to protest; saying the citizens are exercising their rights, but added that the protesters are going beyond their rights by asking for the president’s resignation who duly transmitted power before embarking on medical trip to London.
