ABUJA (Sundiata Post) – In a major shakeup unprecedented since he was inaugurated on May 29, 2015, President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday sacked a total of 24 directors-general of federal agencies and parastatals. This was after earlier announcement of the removal six agencies under the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture. The agencies earlier announced on Monday are the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA)’ Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Voice of Nigeria (VON), News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) and the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).
The dismissal of the 24 directors-general was contained in a statement issued by the Secretary to Government of the Federation, Mr. Babachir Lawal, which listed other heads of parastatals affected to include: Petroleum Technology Development Fund, (PTDF), New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD), Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB); Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN).
Meanwhile, President Buhari has approved the appointment of Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, a former member of the House of Representatives, as his Senior Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora. Dabiri-Erewa had served as Chairman of the Committee on Diaspora in the 7th House of Representatives.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
