President Muhammadu Buhari will commission the Karu International Market, Karu which was built by the Nasarawa State Government.
Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura disclosed this when he paid an unscheduled working visit to the market, adding that the state government was set to commence the demolition of illegal structures around the market to preserve its beauty.
He gave reasons for the delay in the commissioning as adjustments in the market in order that it would accommodate other categories of businessmen and women.
His words: “We have to shift the commissioning because we realised that some category of businesses were not included in the early project. That is why we added about 1000 open space stalls that can accommodate tomato sellers, fish and others in that category.
“Apart from the locked-up stores, 11 cold rooms have also been completed while we have additional 100 hectares of land to accommodate entrepreneurs such as Shoprite and other big businesses.”
The governor said when the market is completed, it would serve both as a tourism attraction and source of employment to the teeming youths across the state and the country at large. (National Mirror)
