GUDU (Sokoto) – Former Military Head of State, Retired Gen. Mohammad Buhari, on Thursday in Gudu, Sokoto State, advised Nigerians to collect and safeguard their permanent voter cards to elect leaders that would ensure good democratic governance in the country.
Buhari made the call at the inauguration of the Gudu General Hospital in Gudu, Sokoto State.
The N178 million hospital was built and equipped by the Sokoto State Government.
The former leader said voter cards remained the only option needed to put in place good government that would ensure people-oriented policies and programmes were implemented.
He urged Nigerians to vote for candidates that would respect their yearnings and aspirations and commended Gov. Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto State for identifying with the aspirations of the people. [eap_ad_1] He said that the construction of the hospital would go a long way in enhancing healthcare delivery in the state.
Earlier, Gov. Wamakko said the state government embarked on the project because of its commitment to effective healthcare to Sokoto State people.
He said the state government would continue to initiate policies and programmes that would enhance the wellbeing of the people, irrespective of political differences.
The governor said each of the 23 local government areas of the state was provided with equipped general hospitals with basic manpower to provide quality healthcare services to the people.
He then urged the people to reciprocate the gesture by reporting any outbreak of epidemic for prompt medical action.
Buhari also inaugurated a five-kilometer township road in Binji Local Government Area of the state. (NAN)
